McDonald, Donald The Box Hill Hawks coach and Hawthorn development coach had a big year in 2001 guiding Box Hill to its first premiership in the club's 50-year history, and developing many youngsters who will and already have had an impact at Hawthorn. The former North Melbourne ruckman played 155 games (1982-1992:) for North Melbourne and then coached Werribee to a premiership in 1993 when the club was battling to stay in the then VFA.

Schwass, Wayne The former Kangaroos Vice-Captain and dual Syd Barker medalist has been a standout player since being traded to Sydney for Shannon Grant in 1999. He won Sydney's best and fairest in his first year and racked up a club-high 447 disposals in 22 matches in 2001. Played 184 games for the Kangaroos and looks set to play 100 games for the Swans during 2002.

Spargo, Paul Was traded to Brisbane and then retired. Described by some supporters as the most intense country league coach, Paul Spargo is at the helm of the Albury Tigers and was the Ovens and Murray interleague coach in 2001, where his team thrashed the GVFL side in Shepparton.
Staritski, Justin Returned to Adelaide to play for Norwood, possibly retired now.
Steele, Darren Geelong, retired.
