Want to play 1080p content on your Apple TV?
A mystifying omission from the AppleTV’s feature set is the ability to play 1080p high
definition video.
1080p
HD playback long been the Holy Grail for any Media Center, until Scott
Davilla and the clever folk over at XBMC developed a driver for the
Broadcom Crystal HD Hardware Decoder (BCM970012). The Crystal HD is a
cross-platform, mini PCIE hardware decoder of MPEG2, WMV9, H.264 and VC1 video content, up to 1080p. The
decoder card is also a popular addition to netbooks and some notebooks,
where it can even play Blu-ray, if you have a spare PCIe slot.
With an Apple TV running XBMC you just need to instal the hardware and driver and you're good to go!
You can purchase the Crystal HD Decoder Card from our bay store for $89.00
